Tumblr

tumblr

Tumblr is not as well known as some of the other social networks but it is quite powerful as you see the tools available to use. You also are linked to a blog where all your content goes as well as a place where you connect to your audience. It’s a  good way to setup a dialogue with your audience too! A little more easier than wordpress as you have to scroll a considerable distance before you find the comment window! Try it out for yourself. My tumblr username is “mylespilling123”

Here is a link to my tumblr bog:-

I will also use it to store all the posts I am doing at https://aas123.com/blogs

Make use of “sharing,” on WordPress

Sharing on WordPress if you are a wordpress user allows what you blog to be “sent” to your other social media sites. This is simple and powerful to do. Tp set up automatically go to Admin and find Sharing. You can now set up the relevant social media sites by linking your social media web addresses to the relevant service. Also you can set up icons for these social media sites so that you can send directly from your post to sites where you think it may target a particular audience. Yay! Very quick and powerful.

Hootsuite – Social Media Organiser

With all the multitude of information streaming to you over the internet keeping track of it can be a time-conusming and daunting task. Hootsuite can help. I was pleasantly surprised at the range of social media it can track and it has the flexibility to add them. Thus, my present mantra of everything in one place really works with this product to track my social media such as facebook, twitter, linkedin, pinterest, google+. The free version can do all this which makes it very practical. Organising your streams through a set of tabs you can stay up to date with all your social media sites and manage them by scheduling posts to send out – even works with mailchimp! Perfecto!!

Organising with a Google Account

A google account is free and allows you to setup a browser and apps consistently across multiple devices. I sign into my google account through Google.co.uk or Google.com and this sets Chrome up to look the way I want it across my devices. iChrome is an extension to Chrome that allows widgies to display – I use Google Keep to display information to help my organisation and to do for current tasks I am working in, Being visual iChrome is suitable for dyslexic learners who are visual learners or dyspraxic users who struggle with finding things due to poor organisational skills. New widgets can be found on the Chrome Store and these can be added into your iChorme page.

Google+ has had a re-vamped . I use this to create custom pages to suit different target groups. It’s like a running history of things I find useful. The interface allows me to add text, photos, links , video ( either my own or Youtube) an event I  want to publicise and a poll to discover what people think.

Now the real beauty of all this is that I have access to this on ALL my different laptops, desktops, ipads, iphone, android and chromebook devices. That means all the above available to me via the internet at all times in all places on all machines. Now that’s making use of the cloud isn’t it?

Dyslexia Awareness Week – 11th-17th October

Dyspraxia Awareness Week
(11th – 17th October 2015)

2015’s National Dyspraxia Awareness Week, which will take place between 11th and 17th October, will not just aim to heighten the awareness of dyspraxia but will also explore the “diagnosis divide” between girls and boys.

This focus comes as a result of the organisers of the Dyspraxia Foundation learning that a significant number of females are not receiving a diagnosis of dyspraxia as readily as males.

So why is it that females can go undiagnosed throughout their lifetimes, despite obvious issues with their development and co-ordination? The truth is that the Dyspraxia Foundation, along with other researchers, don’t know. But they are keen to find out.

They hope that the results of a new national survey will help to explain why many females seem to “get by” in life without diagnosis and support, despite falling over frequently and displaying a lack of spatial awareness (among other symptoms).

If you would like to get involved with this year’s Dyspraxia Awareness Week, make sure to join in with “Funky Friday” (16th October) where your pupils are encouraged to wear their most colourful clothes in order to help raise awareness of dyspraxia.

What makes a great presentation?

Nancy Daurte tells us how to storytell and make an impact using an analysis structure she has discovered. I think every presenter and writer should adopt this pattern. I am looking forward to making this a goal in everything I do as well.
