Network Speed Test – Windows 10

Network speed test is a useful app that tests the speed of your connection and gives you a guide as to what functions you can do with your speed. This is useful to monitor the “actual” speeds of your connections. It’s free! And worth it!

WP for Windows

A new app that has made editing easier for WordPress users

The latest Windows Insider Build has a few new cool features one of which is this WP for Windows (£1.49) free trial I am using. It has some useful features which overcome the limitations of the online editor. Fonts still cannot be changed but you can add the following

  • bullet points
  • as well as numbered points
  1. like this
  2. and this
Images can be added quite easily
I can use bold, italics and underline
Anyway I think you will see it has some improvements. At last as a wordpress user I won’t be frustrated by having to retype or reformat my work!

Techpotential AT toolbox

Shelley Haven, AT professional as compiled a useful list of AT products under helpful sections that really go to forming a knowledge management system. What is knowledge management? It is the way we capture, organise, retrieve and employ the information we acquire through teaching and learning. Shelley calls this CORE knowledge and enables us to consider how to implement the strategies that are necessary for successful implementation of AT in all contexts. Why not take a look at her list which she says is the tip of the iceberg as regards the amount of AT you can use!

What others thought about the NAACE event

Here is a brief outline of what others thought about the network day from Deventio – a software development and business solutions company who attended the event :-

NAACE event

the best thing i have seen in ages!

I have always thought a smartphone/ipad/tablet would make a brilliant instrument. Then this device came along which appeared on australia’s shark den. it’s the called auug and can be found at http://www.auug.com/order/ . You can download a free app but I think the holder is really good for children who need to understand spatial relationships and movement linked to events. As a performance tool it looks wonderful controlling video. What fun could you have with that feature!

SEN & Inclusion Networking Day

I took part in this event last week delivering a talk about The Dyslexia Apps Project. It was a good day with lots of good talks from NAACE  members  Terry Waller, John Galloway, Dr Christina Miranda and Mark Chambers. As well as useful connections with  suppliers and other interested parties there was discussion about issues relating to  the Bring Your Own Device into schools. Presentations will be appearing on the NAACE website soon  ( http:// http://www.naace.co.uk) . If you have views about BYOD then please start a discussion and comment on this post.
